Brian Dinh (C'26) and Hope Applegate (C'28) are expanding PEACH (Physical Exams Access for Community High Schools), a student-led initiative at Penn designed to increase access to preventive healthcare and support the well-being of high school athletes in West Philadelphia. In partnership with Penn Medicine and the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, PEACH coordinates free and reduced-cost sports physicals delivered directly at local schools, while simultaneously building sustainable systems of community engagement and health education. The Shah Prize will support acquisition of medical-grade equipment, expansion of educational programming, volunteer training, and enhanced organizational infrastructure.

The Voice Forge

Renee Liu (E'28)

Renee Liu (E'28) is developing an afterschool speech and debate program, facilitated by Penn students, that coaches Sayre and Robeson high school students to perform in community showcases, compete in program-wide tournaments, and develop important public speaking, critical thinking, and advocacy skills. The Shah Prize will support, among other expenses, professional attire for high school students to attend National Speech & Debate Association competitions and snacks for program incentivization.
